William P. Niland Memorial Scholarship

William Niland served as the President of Diablo Valley College for nineteen years, from 1965 to 1984. When Dr. Niland arrived at DVC the grounds were largely dusty fields and many of the buildings were temporary. Dr. Niland oversaw rapid growth transforming the college into a respected, park-like campus. His primary concern was always the quality of education for DVC students. This scholarship was established by family and colleagues to honor the memory of the man who committed 40 years of his life to education. Criteria: 3.5 GPA; accepted to a four-year college or university for the following term; financial need; demonstrates the potential to succeed.
